Nerf recently launched their new line of blasters called the Zombie Strike. One that really stood out from the crowd and sold out fast is the Hammershot Blaster. So we decided to get hold of one and discover why this is so popular. Read on in this Nerf Zombie Strike Hammershot Blaster Review to find out more.
As the name implies, this blaster has a hammer action revolver. This is a rare function that makes this new Nerf offer a dual-wieldable toy. This hammer action was seen in older blaster models such as the Stryfe, Raider, Stockade, and Barricade. These blasters were noisy, weak and inaccurate. Some even had performance issues. All these concerns are non-existent in the new Hammershot blaster. Nerf users can fan while holding the trigger. This, however, will reduce the distance of the shots.
This new blaster has great performance. It is not as noisy as the older models. It is quiet and each shot has a crisp feel to it.
The firing quality of the Nerf Zombie Strike Hammershot is the same as with many of the blasters in the N-Strike Elite line. The front loaded springer gives a crisp feel for each shot. Because there is nothing in front of the cylinder, the shots are more consistent. Despite the short barrel, the shots are accurate. The blaster has a single-action hammer performance, firing as quickly as the user can pull the trigger. Attention is required as the trigger is sensitive and accidental firing may likely happen.
To reload, simply insert the darts into the chambers. Pull the priming (or cocking) handle down and the blaster is ready for some action.
The relatively small size of the blaster is perfect for single-hand use. Remarkably, though, range is not directly proportional to the blaster’s size. Darts fired from the Hammershot blaster can easily reach 75 feet, which is the case for nearly all N-Strike Elite blasters.
The blaster is designed to be held in one hand, kind of like an enlarged pistol. It is lightweight and well balanced so the hand won’t get fatigued while playing. Younger players may, however, need to hold the blaster with both hands for stability and to reduce strain on the hands. The blaster offers infinite prospects for modding and there are quite a number of less-known features.
The blaster is printed orange. The handle is a deep brown, an attempt to make it look like the wooden handle of a real pistol. It is further made to look like an old-fashioned pistol with its textured white band made to look as if a bandage is wrapped around the handle.
On top of the blaster is a silver-colored tactical rail. Accessories and other customizations can be attached to this area.
The entire blaster has several levers and textures that can hold accessories. These will also make paint jobs and other customizations easier to apply.
On one end of the blaster is a priming handle. This is designed for single-handed priming, using the thumb. However, users may find the priming force to be on the heavy side. It will take more force to pull down the primer.
The cylinder is a bright orange hue and is mounted forward. It can hold 5 foam darts. There is no cover in front of the cylinder, so it’s easy to load and reload. When the priming handle is pulled down, the cylinder also turns.
Below the cylinder are a bar and a capsule. These do not do anything. These are just there for their aesthetic value.
Nerf Zombie Strike Hammershot Unboxing and Review
The Nerf Zombie Strike Hammershot box contains the blaster itself with 5 green foam darts. Stencils are also included, which is new for Nerf. These stencils can be used in customizing the blaster.
The Nerf Zombie Strike Hammershot Blaster is an ideal weapon for both HvZ and “vanilla” Nerf wars. Its quieter operation makes it a good choice for those whose tactic is to sneak up on unsuspecting opponents.
