Nobody knows when a zombie apocalypse will strike, so it’s best to be prepared for the worst all the time. Get ready to protect humanity from a gruesome horde of creepy brain eaters with the FlipFury. This Nerf Zombie Strike FlipFury Blaster review will go into the details of this fantastic blaster from Hasbro’s Nerf Zombie Strike series.
The primary standout feature of the Nerf Zombie Strike FlipFury Blaster is its ammunition system, which gives you twice the excitement and twice the intensity. The FlipFury has two rotating barrels (that can hold 6 Zombie Strike darts each) and two powerful triggers. While the main trigger is obviously for normal firing, the bottom trigger is the scene stealer of the FlipFury.
Pull it once and watch the barrels quickly flip to switch places! After launching all six darts from first barrel, pull the bottom trigger and set the second barrel up for action. That lets you fire a total of 12 shots to attack pesky zombies for every reload.
Noise from the FlipFury occurs when you switch between barrels and when you use the pistol slide. It produces a moderate mechanical sound that is reminiscent of traditional guns, giving the FlipFury a spunky attitude.
Unlike the Vulcan micro darts that produce high-pitched whistles upon launch, the foam Zombie Strike darts are noiseless, making it ideal for stealth shots.
Aside from the main trigger, which is primarily for normal firing, the FlipFury also has a pistol slide that gives you three additional firing modes – the quick draw mode designed for a swift stealth strike, suppressing fire that shoots two darts rapidly for more annihilation, and the popular slam fire, which is perfect for a trigger-happy shooting extravaganza.
At slam fire mode, the FlipFury has a firing rate of 2.3 darts per second.
Because the darts are made of foam, the shooting range of the FlipFury is expectedly shorter in comparison to real guns and paintball guns. This blaster, however, is designed to have the same shooting power as the Nerf StrongArm. Upon doing a Nerf FlipFury range test on a windless day, the shooting range reached up to 64 ft. on a straight shot and up to 91 ft. on a 45-degree angle shot.
Nerf guns are marketed as toys and not as replacement for real guns, so it is expected that they are made of plastic. Because of the dual barrel ammunition system, the FlipFury is somewhat huge and is more squarish in shape. The matte orange finish of the shell together with the ammunition system design gives the blaster a futuristic look.
The handle is designed to resemble wood wrapped with dirty cloth for that zombie apocalypse appeal and its size is proportional to the bulky frame of the FlipFury. The triggers are reactive to normal pulling, although the bottom trigger, designed to be controlled by the middle finger, may require an extra force to pull back. Users with smaller hands, then, may have difficulty getting a good grip of the blaster’s large handle and pulling the bottom trigger with their middle finger.
For a plastic-made gun, the FlipFury is pretty sturdy and heavy-duty. The flipping mechanism of the barrel is perfectly designed for quick and repetitive switching. Nerf guns can endure physical torture that comes with normal gameplay, and the FlipFury is not different from that, so you have an assurance that it won’t break easily.
With its game-changer dual barrel ammunition system, combined with the excellent shooting power of the StrongArm and the signature sturdiness of Nerf guns, the Nerf Zombie Strike FlipFury Blaster is guaranteed to give you hours of adrenaline rush and energetic action. You can definitely count on this strong blaster to save the world and protect the human race from the infestation of grotesque and ghastly walkers.
