Compared to real guns, Nerf guns are safe and definitely a lot cheaper. They’re also highly customizable, with Dremel tools easily drilling smoothly along the sturdy plastic parts. That being said, this Nerf N-Strike Vulcan review shall talk about things you can expect to find, both good and bad, from one of Nerf’s most popular guns in the N-Strike line.

The Nerf N-Strike series is pretty much a milestone in the line of Nerf guns released, as it served as a starting point of realistic blaster trends. Compared to previous Nerf guns, N-Strike Nerf guns resemble and function like real life weapons (which can either be a good thing or a bad thing depending on the user).

The N-Strike Vulcan EBF-25 is a fully automatic dart cannon that comes with three tactical rails. Six D-cell batteries allow you to use the blaster in full-automatic mode, with a rate that can go as high as three darts per second (useful for firing multiple opponents). You can also opt for the single-fire mode if for better precision and less ammo wasted. This option does not require any battery as well.

In terms of the noise emitted, the Vulcan can be noisier than your average leaf blower or lawnmower. In most cases, the sound of screaming and running will probably muffle much of the noise the Vulcan emits.

The sonic micro darts that the Vulcan uses are made to whistle as they fly, therefore making it easier to locate them (in a battlefield though, would you really have the time to do so?) Some people have, however, reported that their darts don’t whistle at all, so this might actually be strongly based on the presence of wind and other external variables.

In automatic mode, with high quality batteries, it will have a firing rate of about 3 darts per second. You’ll want to use Lithium-Ion batteries for longer usage times and better performance even when it’s nearing the end of its charge. When using Nickel Cadmium batteries, it may end up firing 1-2 darts per second only, especially on a low charge.

No matter how fast a weapon fires or how long it could function, it won’t be particularly useful if one needs too short a range to get a hit. Understandably, Nerf guns will have a shorter range than real guns or even paintball guns because of the foam darts. On a windless day, the Vulcan could fire up to 30 feet, with more windy days drastically reducing the range. Most Nerf N-Strike Vulcan reviews have mentioned that this Nerf gun can give a range of about 20-30 feet. That being said, the Vulcan is better suited for indoor shooting than outdoor shooting.

For children, the Vulcan will be impossible to run around with while shooting because of its bulkiness. Even adult users report that it’s not an ideal weapon to use when you plan on running and shooting – you will lose, especially with its detachable ammunition box that could fall off when rattled too much. The strength of the Vulcan is in its rapid-fire ability that’s complemented by its detachable folding tripod. This, of course, does not necessarily make the product inferior to its mobile counterparts; with its bulk comes more room for ammunition and quick and precise shooting. On Amazon, you should be able to get a value pack that includes an extra ammunition belt, 25 extra darts, and a shoulder strap for the same price as a non-value-pack Vulcan from other stores, so you’ll want to check that out.

BUILD QUALITYNerf-N-Strike-Vulcan-EBF-25-Box

Nerf guns are made of plastic, which, for people who are used to using real guns, will seem flimsy. This isn’t the case, however; the fact that a modding community exists means that Nerf guns survive getting drilled, dropped, and modified, and the same thing goes for the Vulcan. You may, however, experience a bit of stiffness with the tripod, but rest assured, it’s quite sturdy and will not easily break.

The Vulcan has definitely raised the bar in the N-Strike series and continues to be a crowd favourite despite its age. Whether you’re new to the Nerf world or are a regular Nerf-modder/enthusiast, you’ll love what the Vulcan can do and what you can do with the Vulcan.
